Sioux Falls Police say a 40-year-old man died following a shooting Monday afternoon in central Sioux Falls in what appears to be a case of mistaken identity.  It all began with an initial report of a shooting in Northern Sioux Falls. Captain Mike Colwill of the Investigative Services Unit said the first call came in shortly after 2:30 p.m…….

Colwill said that 45 year-old Alton Ray Bear was arrested and transported to the Law Enforcement Center for questioning.  While police were conducting their investigation into the first shooting they received a call of a second shooting that had occurred a short distance away from the first one.

Police said the same 9mm handgun was used in both shootings. Police said Bear entered Tracy Saboe’s home thinking it was the home of the 30-year-old and shot and killed him.  Bear faces charges or First Degree murder, Second Degree murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, assault charges as well as burglary and firearm violations. Bear is currently on Parole.
