Shortly before 3:30am Wednesday Morning, the Codington County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence west of Kranzburg on Highway 212 for person that was unwanted.
According to Sergeant Brent Solum, deputies were notified that there was a male at the residence who was knocking on a door, yelling and stating that someone ran him off the roadway. Eventually, the male left the scene in his vehicle.
While responding to the scene, a deputy noticed a vehicle matching the description parked at a nearby residence. The vehicle had backed up into the garage door, causing severe damage to both the garage and the vehicle.
According to Solum, the male was seen walking around inside of the garage and exited the backside of the residence before deputies made contact with him. He was identified as Jason Sperry, 40, of Watertown.
According to deputies, it was apparent that's Sperry was under the influence of a drug or other substance. Sperry was arrested for burglary first degree, intentional damage to property, ingestion of a controlled substance, DUI third offense, resisting arrest, and reckless driving.
Sperry is currently on parole for ingestion of a controlled substance.
He is being held at the Codington County detention center on a $5,000 cash only bond.
