The South Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing their investigation into a crash that seriously injured a 61-year-old man shortly before 11:00PM Friday night. Tony Mangan of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety tells KXLG News that a 2019 Can-am Defender ATV was traveling Westbound on the shoulder of U.S. Highway 212, when it attempted to make a left-hand turn into a private driveway in Henry.
A 2012 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, driven by a 61-year-old man, was also traveling westbound and collided with the can-am causing the driver to receive life threatening injuries.
The driver of the ATV, 54 Year-old Lacy Shepherd of Henry, did not sustain any injuries. 3 adult male passengers also did not sustain any injuries.
The driver of the motorcycle was transported to Prairie Lakes Healthcare in Watertown.
Charges are pending against Shepherd as a result of the crash.
