If you are a technical college student in South Dakota March 31st is an important deadline you don't want to miss. That is the deadline to apply for the Build Dakota Scholarship.  South Dakota's four technical colleges began taken applications for the scholarship on January 1st.

The scholarship was created in 2015 to offer full-ride scholarships for students earning a degree in a high-need field and to retain them for high-need industries within South Dakota.  Over 80 Stretch the Million partners participate in the program, all working to keep Technical College students working right here in South Dakota.

Melissa Waldner is the Business Partner Specialist at Lake Area Technical College. Waldner says once the scholarship deadline closes, the process of matching the students with a Stretch the Million partner begins….

If the students is chosen to receive the scholarship, they must agree to work full-time in the field of study and must stay in South Dakota to work for the next three years…

Waldner says many times students will visit with Stretch the Millions partners ahead of time and that does make the award process a lot easier…

But if you don't have a partner, that's okay also.  The school will be happy to assist.
