Codington County Emergency Management Director Jamie Torstensen says his office had another active month in January with training and calls for service:Â
He also touched on the flood outlook for this spring saying the National Weather Service’s Hydrologic outlook indicates a lack a moisture at the current time, which means a smaller threat of flooding:Â
He added that weather spotter training will be done virtually this year with the classes starting up the last week in March and continuing into Mid-April. This area still remains in a low fire danger zone despite the dry weather this winter. On another topic Tortensen also touched on the latest Covid 19 data:Â
Torstensen has been attending meetings this past week with local health officials having discussions about a bigger POD vaccination event, however the planning is still preliminary until the vaccination supplies are increased to the point that can support that effort.Â
