Deputy Hyde County States Attorney, Emily Sovell, will hold a press conference at 1:30pm CT Thursday to discuss the fatal pedestrian crash investigation case involving Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg. It is expected that she will announce whether or not she is filing criminal charges against Ravnsborg for his involvement in the death of 55 year-old Joe Boever.
Ravnsborg struck and killed Boever with his vehicle as he walked alongside U.S. Highway 14 near Highmore, SD on September 12th.
Ravnsborg told the 911 dispatcher at the time of the crash that he had “no idea” what he had hit, but suspected it was a deer. The following day, he returned to the scene and discovered the body of Boever lying in the road ditch.
North Dakota authorities were asked to conduct the crash investigation to eliminate any conflict of interest with the case.
