A driver killed in a Sunday evening crash in Clark County has been identified as 47-year-old Nancy Berendes of Doland, South Dakota.
The Department of Public Safety, in a Monday morning press release, said a 2016 international semi truck and trailer was making a left-hand turn onto US Highway 212 from 428th Avenue to go east. A 2007 Chrysler Town and Country van, driven by Berendes was westbound on Highway 212, when it collided with the semi.
Berendes was extricated from the van and later died of her injuries at Prairie Lakes Healthcare in Watertown. She was wearing a seat belt.
A 15-year-old male passenger in the Berendes Vehicle was taken to the Prarie Lakes Healthcare with serious non-life threatening injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt.
The 24-year-old female driver of the semi truck was not injured. She was wearing a seat belt.
The crash remains under investigation by the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
