A former South Dakota legislator has died. Justin Cronin, 40, was found dead in his apartment in Pierre on Wednesday afternoon.
Cronin, a republican, served in the South Dakota legislature from 2009 until resigning in 2019 citing health concerns and a desire to spend more time with family.
Pierre Police Captain Derald Gross says Cronin had underlying health issues and no foul play is suspected. An autopsy is planned , which Gross said is standard for someone that age.
A funeral for Cronin will take place at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 19 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gettysburg. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. with a wake at 7 p.m. on Nov. 18 at the church. A live-streamed broadcast will be available. Luce Funeral Home in Gettysburg is in charge of arrangements.
