A Fort Thompson man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Assaulting a Federal Officer. Warren Dion, age 22, appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark Moreno on Thursday and entered and plea of not guilty to the indictment. The Indictment alleges that on October 18, 2020, Dion forcefully resisted a federal officer, who was engaged in the performance of his official duties, in a manner that involved physical contact. The federal officer was injured during the confrontation.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Crow Creek Agency.
Dion was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending trial. A trial has been set for March 9, 2021. If convicted, he could face up to 20 yeas in federal prison and/or a $250,000 fine.
