Watertown, SD -- KXLG’s Don Egert was honored today at the Codington County Commission meeting. Don, who is retiring this Friday, has been a mainstay at KXLG radio for the past ten years and is a more than 69 year veteran of radio in Western Minnesota and Eastern South Dakota. The Watertown native spent most of his working career as owner, announcer, and engineer at KDIO radio in Ortonville, Minnesota. After retirement he and his wife Sally moved to Watertown. However, knowing that he still enjoyed radio, Don returned to the business as an assistant news director. He and KXLG Radio News Director David J. Law have been working together for more than 15 years. This September KXLG is celebrating ten years serving the Watertown-Milbank radio market. Today the commissioners proclaimed Friday, August 30th as Don Egert Day in Codington County. The proclamation was read by Commissioner Troy VanDusen.
Beginning Tuesday September 3rd Troy VanDusen, who is also retiring from the Watertown Police Department Friday, will become the News Director at KXLG Replacing David J. Law who will be moving to semi-retirement.
