South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem was in Watertown on Monday for a luncheon to help support Lake Area Technical College Foundation’s scholarship program. Before the governor’s comments, Lake Area Tech President Mike Cartney told those in attendance that it’s been a difficult year dealing with the pandemic, but enrollment is up, and the staff and students continue to do great things.......

Governor Noem spoke to KXLG News about the importance of the partnerships between Lake Area Tech, businesses, and community leaders….

The governor said Lake Area Tech is continuing to fill jobs in the workforce, something companies looking to relocate to South Dakota are looking for....

First Gentleman Bryon Noem took a few minutes to speak about his “Small Town Initiative” saying the importance of visiting small town South Dakota is critical to those who live there.  He’s been visiting towns across South Dakota for the last six months focusing on them and their needs as well as “uncovering the hidden gems” they possess.

Since forming in 1992, the Lake Area Tech Foundation has awarded well over $1 million in scholarships to students.  This year alone, the foundation will award over 400 scholarships totaling nearly $440,000.
