The Hamlin County Sheriff has confirmed a grain bin accident on Friday has claimed the life of a 21 Year-Old Estelline man.
Watertown Fire Rescue was called out to assist the Estelline Fire Department on Friday at approximately 1:48 pm with the grain bin rescue. According to Watertown Fire Rescue, they were requested to respond with additional equipment and personnel to assist in the rescue.
WFR said several holes had been cut in the side of the grain bin to empty the corn from the bin to locate the patient before they arrived on-scene. Upon arriving, Watertown Fire Rescue assisted with extricating the patient from the grain bin who had become engulfed in corn.
Saturday morning, the Hamlin County Sheriff's office confirmed that the 21 year-old Esteliine man was pronounced dead on-scene.
Assisting with the rescue were members of the Estelline Fire Department and Ambulance, Castlewood Fire Department and Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office.
