Health and wellness is high on many people’s minds these days, and the Hy-Vee grocery store in Watertown is offering a new program that make’s the store a one-stop wellness shop.
Hy-Vee dietitians designed the new service, called “Healthy You,” to offer patrons a chance to better control their health. The program includes personalized nutrition counseling twice a month, preventive health screenings, cooking workshops, on-demand workouts and wellness classes.
Those offerings may seem out of place in a grocery store, but Watertown Hy-Vee dietitian Danielle Miller said making healthy choices begins with the foods you buy.
The Healthy You subscription service a first among grocery chains, and Miller said grocery stores are ideal partners for shoppers to improve their health, and that Hy-Vee’s long history of helping its customers stay healthy makes it a good fit.
Healthy You builds on Hy-Vee's investment in tele-health from the start of the COVID pandemic that helped dietitians stay in contact with shoppers. The new service aims to guide shoppers to purchase groceries based on their personal health profiles, whether they're trying to manage weight, cholesterol, blood glucose or another health or dietary issue.
The subscription service is available across Hy-Vee's eight-state region to people 18 and older. The dietitian team also offers twice-annual preventive health screenings for cholesterol, libraries of online materials, one-on-one chats with dietitians and more.
