The South Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing their investigation into a Vehicle-Pedestrian Crash that occurred at 12:04am Saturday on 450th Avenue, 10 miles Northwest of Watertown.
Tony Mangan of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety tells KXLG news that a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by a 43 year-old woman, was travelling Southbound on 450th when she approached two vehicles that were parked on the side of the road. As she was going around the stopped vehicles, a 66 male pedestrian appeared in front of her vehicle. She could not stop in time to avoid a collision with him. The pedestrian suffered severe life threatening injuries and was transported to Prairie Lakes Healthcare by Watertown Paramedics.
He was later flown to a Sioux Falls Hospital. The female driver was not injured.
The accident remains under investigation by the South Dakota Highway Patrol, who was assisted on-scene by the Codington County Sheriff's Office and Watertown Fire Rescue.
