The pilot of a small plane that crashed Northwest of Parkston on Monday has now been identified. According to authorities, Keith Dodson of Dumas, Texas died when the crop duster he was piloting crashed in a field. The crash occurred shortly after 11:00AM. According to Douglas County coroner Dustin Palmquist, Dodson was 50 years-old. Authorities have not said why they believe the plane crashed.
Parkston Fire, Parkston Ambulance, Douglas County Emergency Management and the Douglas County Sheriff's Office all responded to the scene of the crash on Monday.
The National Transportation Safety Board has taken over the investigation of the crash.
Douglas County is located south of Plankinton. The County seat is Armour.
