There were some tense moments for numerous emergency responders in Hamlin County Wednesday afternoon after they received information that an airplane had declared an emergency landing about 15 miles south of Watertown.   

Sheriff Chad Schlotterbeck said the call came in at 2:48pm..... 

At 3:24pm Schlotterbeck said the plane was located..... 

Schlotterbeck said the female pilot was the only person on-board the plane at the time it went down. Schlotterbeck says the FAA will take over the investigation into exactly what happened..... 

The Hamlin County Sheriff was assisted by numerous agencies including the SDHP, Castlewood Ambulance, South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks, Hamlin County Emergency Management and Civilian Aircraft from Watertown.
