The COVID-19 Vaccine distribution is continuing at Prairie Lakes Healthcare System in Watertown. Prairie Lakes Healthcare CEO, KC DeBoer, says the distribution is going well……

South Dakota is projected to receive around 11,000 doses of the vaccine each week through Mid-January ……

In South Dakota’s vaccination plan, there are five phases. Once completed with Phase 1C,  providers will move on to 1D, which consists of persons with underlying medical conditions such as cancer and COPD, heart conditions and weakened immune systems.

DeBoer says Prairie Lakes Healthcare System has vaccinated over 700 people so far…..

Both the Moderna and Pfizer vaccinations are a two dose series.  The Pfizer vaccination requires 21 days between vaccinations and Moderna requires 28 days.

The South Dakota Department of Health reported that as of Monday afternoon, 26,952 doses of the vaccine have been administered in the state.  Monday afternoon the Department of Health reported 111 new cases of COVID statewide with 268 people hospitalized with the virus.
