South Dakota Lawmakers are projecting that they will have more money to work with than previously expected as they continue to craft the state budget this legislative session.  Governor Kristi Noem had predicted in December that revenues would be tight as the state continues to recover from Natural Disasters last year.  District 5 Representative Hugh Bartels sits on the Appropriations committee. He says that the numbers are better that what had been anticipated....  

As it relates to the 2021 state budget, the overall estimates show $19 million dollars more for next year than what the Governor used in her December Budget address. That could be good news for teachers, state employees and service providers, all of whom were given a zero percent raise in the Governors proposed budget. Bartels says its still early to say what those numbers will be....
