The South Dakota Department of Transportation has closed the Highway 1806 bridge, known as the “singing bridge” west of Mobridge and north of Highway 12 over the Grand River.  According to DOT officials, the emergency closure was done on Saturday as a safety precaution due to observed distresses reported on the bridge.

Officials are inspecting the bridge to determine the extent of the distress and determine if the bridge can be reopened.   During the closure, traffic will need to use alternate routes.
