A strong winter storm will impact a large area of the northern plains this weekend. The biggest part of the system is expected to move south of the KXLG listening area but a big swath of the state will experience snow. Here locally from a half to three inches of snow is expected, however Mike Fuhs at the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls says up to a foot could fall in some areas of southern South Dakota.
Fuhs says there will be several bands of heavy snow.
Fuhs says it is a strong system.
Fuhs says the winds will create areas of blowing snow from late Saturday into Sunday morning. The storm will move in late Friday and continue through the weekend.
