SAIPAN, Northern Marianas Islands -- Two former wing commanders of the South Dakota Civil Air Patrol are assisting as Federal Emergency Management Agency reservists in this Pacific Ocean American commonwealth.

CAP Colonels John Seten and Mike Beason are at Saipan assisting FEMA with disaster relief following Super Typhoon Yutu.

Seten and Beason are both experienced incident commanders in the CAP. Seten is a recently retired Sioux Falls firefighter and Beason is a retired Air Force fighter pilot and lt. colonel. Seten was also in the South Dakota Army and Air National Guards and was a non-commissioned officer. Seten is from Sioux Falls and Beason is from Rapid City

Another CAP member, Lt. Col. Bill Strandell of Sioux Falls, has been deployed to Puerto Rico since March, assisting FEMA in developing housing after the 2017 hurricanes on the Island. Strandell is a civil engineer and retired from the USAF as a colonel. He is a member of the Sioux Falls Composite Squadron.
