The South Dakota Department of Health reported 617 new coronavirus cases statewide on Sunday, bringing the states total case count to 28, 564. There are 5,865 active cases and 22,413 patients who have recovered. Current hospitalizations is at 266, down one case from Saturday.
No new deaths were reported on Sunday. The state has seen 286 deaths from COVID-19 since the pandemic began in March.
Locally, Codington County confirmed five new cases on Sunday and listed five as probable. The total active case count for Codington county is 186. There are 912 patients that have recovered out of 1,107 reported cases and a total of 75 people have been hospitalized in the county with COVID since March.
According to the Department of Health, 42% of the hospital beds in the state are available, 11% are occupied by COVID patients, and 47% are occupied by Non-COVID patients.
