Two turkeys, born and raised in South Dakota went before President Donald Trump Tuesday looking for an executive reprieve. Trump sealed the fate of the birds Peas and Carrots fairly early during a ceremony at the White House.
Both turkeys, however, will spend the rest of their days at Gobbler’s Rest under the care of poultry science students at Virginia Tech University. But the President warned that the bird’s luxurious lives may be in jeopardy…
Trump did put the political carving knife down to reflect on the holiday season.
The turkeys were raised at the Riverside Hutterite Colony north of Huron. Among those there to wish the turkeys well was South Dakota Governor-Elect Kristi Noem.
