Shortly after 10am Monday, Watertown Fire Rescue was dispatched to a rollover crash on I-29 and Mile Marker 187. Authorities say that an older van box truck pulling an enclosed trailer has left the roadway and entered the ditch flipping onto it passenger side. The two occupants of the van were transported to the Prairie Lakes Hospital with undisclosed injuries. The have not been identified.
Fire Rescue personnel remained on-scene for almost two hours to assist with cleanup of the scene. The South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
June is Move-Over Awareness month. Authorities remind you, when approaching stopped vehicles on the interstate or divided highway to merge to the furthest lane away from the stopped vehicle at least 300 feet before the vehicle, and then proceed with caution. Also, when driving on a two lane highway, slow down at least 20mph less than the posted speed limit and proceed with caution.
