Watertown Fire Rescue responded to a fire at Dakota Bodies Inc., 201 20th Ave SE, at 9:21 am Friday. A witness, who was passing by the business, reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the building's roof. While en route to the scene, the Watertown 911 Center advised crews the fire had started in a paint booth inside the business.
The fire had started near the exhaust system in the booth from hot work done during a system upgrade. Damage is estimated to be between $30,000 and $50,000. Fire Crews say that nobody was injured and the damage was confined to the exhaust system.
