The Watertown School Board met Monday night for their regular board meeting. Chair Stephanie Lenards began the meeting by paying tribute to Watertown High School student Wyatt Niemann who passed away on Friday November 6th.
Watertown Mayor Sara Caron has declared this Thursday at Wyatt Niemann Day in Watertown. Garrett Priest, Wyatt's dad has asked the community to come together and do small acts of kindness to one another throughout the day in honor of Garrett.
Following the tribute to Wyatt, the board began to take up their regular agenda. One of the items on the agenda Monday night included a lease agreement approval between Lake Area Technical College and the Stan Houston equipment company for heavy machinery used in the Heavy Equipment Machinery Program. Lake Area Tech President Mike Cartney said that great partnership’s like this one helps to expose students to the actual equipment they will be using when they graduate….
Cartney said that having no cost lease partners like Sam Houston and others allows the school to keep the cost of the students' education lower.
Cartney also reminded members of the board and the public about the Festival of Trees event that is taking place on Friday November 20th. This year’s event will take place both in person and virtually. Cartney explained the virtual option…..
