American Education Week

This week, the week of November 16th - 20th, is American Education Week.  American Education Week is a week set aside to celebrate public education and honor each of the individuals who ensure that every student is receiving a quality education, something that has become more difficult during this pandemic.

Olivia Forman, President of the Watertown Education Association and a High School Math Teacher took a few moments recently to speak about this week's activities…..

Forman also thanked the school board and district administration for their support….

The first observance of American Education Week occurred in 1921, with the National Education Association and the American Legion as the cosponsors.  A year later, the U.S. Office of Education joined the effort as a cosponsor. The PTA followed in 1938.

American Education Week is always celebrated prior to the week of Thanksgiving.
