Jeff Danielson

Following two weeks of virtual learning Watertown High School Students are back in the classroom and according to Superintendent Dr. Jeff Danielsen the COVID numbers are looking good right now....

Danielsen said recent changes to their COVID mask requirements is making a difference but there’s a long ways to go.  He says students wearing masks has improved....

Board member Scott Hardie again encouraged the district to mandate mask usage.  In speaking to Superintendent Danielsen, Hardie said if we can keep the COVID numbers down to single digits that would be great, but with compliance at 50 or 60 percent it still means a large percentage of students aren’t using them.....

Hardie says he’s probably beating a dead horse, but that it would be much easier if everyone just wore a mask....

Their hope, says Danielsen, is that the number of students wearing masks would have increased to 90 percent, but that it hasn’t happened yet. They’re trying to get above 80 percent, a number they have achieved at the K-6 level...

In other COVID related matters Superintendent Danielsen also addressed extracurricular activities saying the coaches and bench personnel are wearing masks.  Players are also wearing masks on the bench and removing them when entering the game.  Fans are also being encouraged to wear masks, although it’s not mandated....
