urban renewal district

Watertown, SD --  Watertown’s Urban Renewal District will be making improvements in the downtown area with a project that will require an assessment from businesses located in that area. Mayor Sarah Caron says action on the request will follow a public meeting September 3rd. She says everyone who would be assessed has been contacted.

The TIF Ten Tax Increment Financing District is a proposed mixed use of commercial and residential that will be created to pay the costs of the public infrastructure, land acquisition, and other expenses needed to facilitate the construction of the loft which, again, is the new retail and apartment complex in downtown Watertown.
