After thousands of online votes, it was announced late this week that Watertown has won the Strong Town title! Watertown beat out Beloit, Wisconsin in the final round to take the title.
During the competition, Watertown went head to head with 15 other communities across America and Canada. Watertown Mayor Sarah Caron says that Winning the title means the city will be receiving some great recognition in the near future…
The strong towns organization says, “From the beginning, Watertown distinguished itself as a town actively pursuing a strong town's approach to economic growth and development.”
As the winner of the Strongest Town contest, Watertown will receive a visit later this year from Chuck Marohn, to celebrate the victory and share the Strong Town Organization message.
Representatives from Watertown will also be invited to accept the award at the National Strong Town Conference in Pensacola, Florida later this year.
