Watertown Fire Rescue crews were dispatched a semi crash on 20th Avenue South just West of the shooting range late Monday afternoon. According to authorities, upon arrival they found a semi truck that had jackknifed while pulling a drop deck trailer. The semi had entered the north ditch and struck a high-line electric power pole. The pole sheared off from the ground and was hanging over the semi. The insulators from the line were keeping the power pole attached to the power line. Fortunately, the drive remained inside his semi until fire crews were able to assist him safely out of his truck.
Watertown Municipal Utilities arrived a short time later to remove the pole from the power lines and safely off the truck. The driver was evaluated by Watertown Fire Paramedics and refused further medical care.
Crews were assisted on-scene by the Watertown Police Department, Utilities and a local towing company.
