Capitol Protest

The woman was removed from the House Chambers by the Sargent of Arms and Law Enforcement Tuesday Afternoon after House members voted to pass the so-called "Riot Boosting" bill.

A female protester was escorted out of the House gallery at the state capitol in Pierre on Tuesday afternoon after she spoke out against the passage of the "riot boosting" bill. The woman disrupted the session as House Speaker Steven Haugaard was commenting on the bill.

The woman was removed from the gallery by the Sargent at Arms and assisted by South Dakota State Troopers. The woman was not arrested and no further disruption occurred.

Haugaard himself voted against the measure, but said he doesn't want the Native community to "take it as an insult."
