The 1st Winter Storm of the season will begin over Central South Dakota Thursday morning. According to the National Weather Service in Aberdeen much colder temperatures and strong northwest winds will result in significant blowing snow across North Central South Dakota.
James Telken with the National Weather Service Office in Aberdeen told KXLG News this morning that we will start with rain today. That rain will gradually turn to snow.
Those wind gusts will cause travel to become difficult, to nearly impossible at times, especially across central South Dakota. Telken says that we can expect the storm to hang around for a little while.
