The Codington County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to 457th Avenue and 176th Street for a two-vehicle rollover accident with one person injured and two people trapped in a rolled over vehicle resting on live power lines.
Ron Pope (23) of Watertown was headed south on 457th Ave and failed to yield at the intersection of 176th st. Dorothy Tesch (83) of Watertown was traveling eastbound on 176th st and struck Pope’s 1998 GMC pickup in the side. Popes pickup slid into the ditch and struck a electrical box while landing on its side on top of live wires. Both Dorothy’s 2011 Chrysler 200 and the pickup ended up in the south east ditch.
Codington Clark Electric arrived and shut off the power to the electrical box so the two in the pickup could be rescued. Dorothy was transported to Prairie Lakes Hospital by the Watertown Ambulance. Ron Pope was cited for Failure to Yield at Yield sign.
Assisting on Scene were Codington County Emergency Management, Codington Clark Electric, and Watertown Fire Rescue. Codington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
