Codington County Auditor Cindy Brugman tells KXLG News that three candidate petitions were requested on Thursday.
Two Codington County Commission seats are up for election this year along with the Codington County State’s Attorney seat. The commission seats are in Districts Two and Four.
District Two is currently held by Charlie Waterman and District Four is held by Troy VanDusen.
Brugman says that Toby Wishard has requested petitions to run against Incumbent Troy VanDusen in District Four. Jim Didier, will be circulation petitions for the District Two Commission seat against Incumbent Charlie Waterman.
Brugman says that the number of signatures required on the petitions varies and are based on the race and the party affiliation of the candidate.
The filing date for candidates running as Republican, Democratic, or Libertarian is 5:00pm, Tuesday, March 31, 2010. The Primary Election is set for Tuesday, June 2nd, 2020. Independent candidates have until 5:00 PM, Tuesday, April 28th, 2020.
