The Watertown Police Department was notified at 5:56pm Monday night that a Burlington Northern railcar that had a snow blade on the front, was clearing the tracks by 4th Avenue SW when it hit a large amount of ice and derailed. The derailed car ended up on 4th Avenue causing the roadway to be shut down.
According to Watertown Police there were no injuries or damage. Traffic was rerouted onto Kemp Avenue for about 3.5 hours before the train car was removed. 4th Avenue was reopened shortly before 9:30pm.
